While working at the digital design agency Matter of Form I was responsible for the re-designing of the new Radley + Co website. As it's a data heavy website mainly for wholesaler's it was important that the site had a clear structure in terms of navigation and easy accessible information. </description>

A visual identity for a Grade 1 listed house designed by the architect Sir John Soane in 1791. The house is open to the public and hosts functions including weddings and conferences - as well as being home to several charities who run community projects. The brand therefore had to appeal to all these different area's and unify them.

The logo was inspired by the Greek Key which is hidden in the architecture of the house by Soane and the lettering is influenced by Soane's own san serif which is documented in his plan drawings of the house. His style of lettering is familiar with the san serifs on buildings and in typefounders' specimen books of forty years later.

This was the work I submitted to become a member of ISTD, the International Society of Typographic Designers in 2009.

The title of the brief was 'three minutes', with the restriction of using only one A1 sheet for the print parameter. This challenge influenced the format of my idea into a book. I designed a book about Harry Houdini because of the three minute time frame most of his tricks lasted.

I also developed the idea of 'revealing' Houdini's tricks in my work. I wanted to describe what the audience saw but show what was happening behind the scenes. All magic tricks are simple illusions so I wanted my work to have a simple illusion in it by making the 'reveal' a trick in itself.

The Brief was to create a set of theatre poster for the Barbican. We were given three Shakespeare plays: The Merchant of Venice, The Tempest and A Midsummer Nights Dream.

As well as being able to stand alone you had to create an identity so it was clear they were from the same series of performances. Using typography I made them connect in any order. I treated the poster as a metaphor for the stage. As with the stage there are things happening in the wings; you get a hint of this in the typography.

Screen printed A0

The series has also been featured in the 'Echoes of the Future Rational Graphic Design &#38; Illustration' by the German publisher Gestalten.

These two flexigons document the translation of the landscape over the course of a day. Six photographs were taken using a pinhole camera - every hour from 11am to 4pm.

The location of the camera was determined by the previous photograph through a process of developing the image, finding the furthest object in the photograph and then going to that object to take the next image, The direction of the camera was then pointed at a 60 degree angle to take the photograph. This was repeated, forming this distorted hexagon shape on the ground.
